About Me
Hi, my name is Roger Thompson, and I am a former professor of English at Kyung Hee University, one of South Korea's top universities, where I also taught civics and a class about Star Trek. I am also a Harvard, Yale, and Cornell-certified scholar, and a Canadian native speaker with a neutral North American accent. I would like to tell you about what I offer. To start, I suppose my greatest accomplishment was completing my MA thesis (Brown Shoes, Black Shoes, And Felt Slippers: Parochialism and the Evolution of the Post-War US Navy) and getting it published by the US Naval War College. It was widely considered a classic in military sociology, and it became required reading in a graduate-level class at MIT in 2005. And coming in a close second was winning a 24k gold medal for teaching at Kyung Hee University in 2016 (see photos below). I am currently a certified online English tutor on Preply, and my specialties are general English conversation for adults, resume and cover letter editing, and job interview preparation. While you're here, please check out the reviews I received from former students below. I am now accepting new students, so please feel free to book a free trial lesson by clicking the button below.

"There are only three words that come to my mind when I think about Professor Thompson: 'teaching and passion'. I had the opportunity to take his Global Citizen class. I enjoyed his lectures and the passion he had when we talked about how to make the world a better place. He made me rethink my contribution to this society, and now I want to be a better person every day..."
